2010 proved to be a year of great growth and progress at InventionHome even though the economy was sluggish and challenging.  In addition to developing many new partnerships and relationships, we had a record year in completing licensing / marketing agreements for our clients, reaching 40 deals for 2010 (120 overall).

We are pleased to share some 2010 highlights.

40 New Deals Completed…  After wrapping up 2009 with 20+ deals for the year (80 overall), we were determined to double the number of deals in 2010 for our clients.  After completing our 100th marketing agreement overall in late April on an invention called “Leaf Wizard,” an innovative lawn & garden product, we went on to finalize 20 more reaching our goal of 40 for the year (120 overall).

Through partnerships with the National Hardware Show, International Housewares Association and Response Expo, we created and launched our innovative, new search portal strategy to enable national tradeshows to be able to offer their members and site visitors easy access to InventionHome clients’ inventions directly from their websites.  Today, each of these tradeshows has our portal on their websites, with more shows to come.    Example: http://inventionhome.com/invportfolio/portal.aspx?source=nationalhardwareshow

TV Debut of five InventionHome products!  We saw the national test of two Infomercial campaigns for our “Sofa Caddy” (rebranded “Couch Commander”) and “Access Door Lever” (rebranded “Turneez”), as well as three of our products which were featured on QVC:  Micro Mixer, VibeAway and Leaf Wizard.

InventionHome sponsors National Hardware Show!  We were honored to sponsor the 2010 National Hardware Show in May, along with the United Inventors Association and Garden Weasel®.  It is one of the largest annual trade shows in the world, gathering over 2,800 consumer products companies at the Las Vegas Convention Center.  While there, we connected with many manufacturers in the hardware industry, exhibited side-by-side with inventors in the Inventor Spotlight are of the show, and assisted then-UIA Executive Director Patrick Raymond with judging and managing the Inventor Spotlight merit awards.

InventionHome sponsors Response Expo!  InventionHome personnel returned from Las Vegas’ Hardware Show for just enough time to pack some clean socks before leaving for San Diego and the Response Expo.   The Response Expo, considered the industry’s foremost direct response marketing trade show and conference, is produced by Response Magazine and the Direct Response Marketing Association.  InventionHome was pleased to sponsor the Inventor Pavilion area of the show, interact with many inventors in attendance, and also build upon our relationships with some key players in the infomercial industry.

InventionHome partners with TAGIE (Toy and Game Expo)!  InventionHome was pleased to sponsor the Toy and Game Inventor Expo (TAGIE) in November, the only industry event designed exclusively to help the new toy and game inventor and entrepreneur by providing networking and educational opportunities.

Inventor Mike Esposito invented the Vertical Grill to solve the problem of grease drippings creating smoke flare-ups that leave carcinogens on the food.

The Vertical Grill was designed so that grease drippings fall into a basin at the bottom of the grill. Food is placed in a custom grilling basket and hung between two charcoal heating columns. This also enables the food to be cooked on both sides simultaneously in half the time as conventional grilling. The Grill also has a standard grilling surface at the top which is ideal for toasting buns or roasting corn on the cob.

To learn how to license Mike’s Vertical Grill, please contact the marketing department (member@inventionhome.com) at InventionHome.

SnuggieTM creator breaks ground on new product infomercial Allstar Marketing Group is well-known for creating successful TV products such as the SnuggieTM, the Topsy Turvy®, and the Perfect BrownieTM. We’re hopeful that their next big success will have roots with InventionHome.

The infomercial giant recently licensed an InventionHome product, and they are slated to begin production on the infomercial in early May. Although we can’t disclose product details at this time (we’re sworn to secrecy), we CAN provide a list of criteria that are used to evaluate a products’ potential infomercial success.

Take a look.

  • Does the product have mass appeal? (Would many people buy it?)
  • Does the product demonstrate well? (Would it make an interesting demo?)
  • Is there sufficient markup potential? (Most ‘As Seen on TV’ products have a four to five-time markup) Does the product solve a real problem? (Ideally will provide an immediate benefit…not just a preventative/potential problem)
  • Would the product likely sell for $19.99? (Higher retails might be considered for a longer-format TV spot, but $19.99 is an ideal price point)

If you believe that your invention would make a good infomercial product, InventionHome can help approach Allstar and other companies seeking new, TV-worthy items.

Monroeville, PA– InventionHome is pleased to feature a patent-protected tool for splitting pills of any shape called the Rotatable Pill Splitter.  Independent inventor Walt Cheney is working with InventionHome to market and license his product to companies in exchange for royalties.

Walt created, prototyped and was awarded a utility patent from the United States Patent and Trademark Office for his tool that gives individuals the option to halve and quarter pills with great accuracy.

The product consists of a lid and base with interchangeable pill beds in a variety of colors to accommodate a number of standard and unique pill sizes.  When the user wants to split a pill he selects the correct bed to match the pill size and inserts both into the device.  The pill bed holds the pill into the proper position and aligns it with the blade below.  The user rotates the outside lever of the pill bed and presto….the pill is split!

This is a great product for any individual who has a difficult time cutting a pill of any shape.  How many times has a doctor increased or decreased the dosage of a frequently prescribed drug and decided to write a new script for the medication?  In many circumstances the individual could have a supply at home and would love to split or quarter his previously purchased meds to get the right dosage.  The Rotatable Pill Splitter allows the user to be economical and accurate with his medication.

InventionHome continues to market Cheney’s product to interested companies.  For more information on the Rotatable Pill Splitter or invention-related services please contact InventionHome at (866) 844-6512.

Pet Belt

Monroeville, PA – InventionHome is pleased to announce an innovative pet product, available for licensing, from independent inventor Roy Garcia called the Pet Belt.

California resident Roy Garcia watched fellow pet walkers juggle keys, a leash, cell phone, dog treats and waste bags during his early morning and late afternoon walks.  Although Garcia made it a rule to only carry essential items with him during his twice daily excursions, he found himself searching for keys and a cell phone on more than one occasion.

Garcia came up with a solution to better organize pet walkers’ personal items called the Pet Belt.  The Pet Belt is an adjustable product worn around the waist that includes two pockets attractively designed to fit an MP3 player and cell phone.  The product has storage compartments to hold smaller items such as keys, currency and even a garage door remote.  A small zip-top bag component is perfect for dog treats and a second unit of the same size is ideal for waste bags. There is also a unique cup-holding component to carry a beverage or water container.  Each compartment can be easily removed and replaced along the belt, as desired. Several heavy-duty clips are permanently positioned along the belt so pet owners with more than one dog can enjoy a leisurely stroll or run.

Garcia and InventionHome are actively seeking companies interested in licensing the Pet Belt.   If you would like to see additional images or learn more about the product, please call (866) 844-6512 x 119, or email us at member@inventionhome.com.

doghats36Invention Home announces their “Invention of the Week”, “Dog Hats”.

doghats21

Independent inventor Irene Bray wanted her dogs to strut their stuff in style AND comfort…and she enlisted the help of Invention Home to assist her in finding marketing/licensing opportunities for her invention, “Dog Hats”.

Do you like to dress your pet, but feel that the look just isn’t complete without a hat?  Inventor Irene Bray likes her pets to be dressed for success, and tried other dog hats/accessories on the market but found them difficult to attach. Irene noticed that they didn’t properly secure to the pet’s head and would fall off with any moderate movement.  Not so with “Dog Hats”!  In addition, many standard pet hat fasteners are uncomfortable for the dog; the dog will squirm and resist the accessory, making everyone frustrated. Not so with “Dog Hats”!  While some existing hats are designed to fit securely, their harness attachments are cumbersome and so noticeable that they take away from the fun aesthetic design of the hat.  Not so with “Dog Hats”!

This invention features two adjustable, elasticized straps, which are designed to criss-cross under the dog’s chin and are fastened to the hat in front of and behind each ear.  They are fully adjustable to fit very large dogs as well as very small dogs and even cats!  Dog Hats may be offered in many sizes and designs.  Irene has an issued Utility Patent as well samples available.
